Frequently Asked Questions

I am trained in a type of counselling called ‘Transpersonal’. It is a holistic therapy approach that integrates traditional talk therapy with mindfulness, body-based practices, creativity, and even spiritual exploration. It focuses on healing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—while helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom.
-
Unlike traditional therapy, Transpersonal Therapy incorporates body, mind and soul aspects with creative practices that focus on self-discovery and transformation rather than solely talk therapy and problem-solving.
-
Sessions are tailored to your needs and preferences. They are often simply talk therapy, but they may include techniques like art therapy, meditation, breathwork, movement, gentle yoga, and even dreamwork

Like most therapists, I am not always available 24/7. Which can be really hard when you are in crisis and need help right now.
In the first instance, if you have a good relationship with your GP, and it is in office hours, then please reach out to them.
However GPs are not always available when you need them. So here are a few ideas of services with specialists who are trained to help you or a loved one in crisis:
If you are in Launceston you can physically go to Launceston Medicare Mental Health Centre.Or try one of these helplines:
Or check out this google search of options.
Sending love to you. xx

No, definitely not; those wonderful professionals have studied for longer than me and have the ability to diagnose and work with complex issues.
Counsellors like me are great with helping you understand yourself and process issues, BUT if you think you have a serious mental health condition such as psychosis etc, then please talk to your GP about seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist.

There is currently no government rebate available for counselling services in Australia. However, most counsellors aim to keep their fees lower, so the outlay for the client is similar to working with a government-rebated medical professional.

Sure can, check out this link.

Anyone seeking healing or personal growth can benefit—whether you’re navigating life transitions, processing grief or trauma, feeling stuck or worried, or simply looking for deeper meaning in life.
This approach is adaptable to people of all ages and backgrounds.
However, if you have specific concerns about its suitability for your situation, feel free to reach out for a 15-minute chat.

I’m not working with kids at this stage, I haven’t had specific training in working with children, so I will leave that to the professionals.
-
Yes, I am interested in all humans!
But I guess if pushed I would say I am particularly interested in clients with chronic health conditions, chronic pain, corporate burnout, small business owner stress, raising kids with neurodiversity, gender concerns, women’s health frustrations and perimenopause.

Sessions typically last up to 60 minutes.
However, the initial consultation can take longer, so allow 90 minutes, depending on your needs and schedule.
-
Yes, it is completely confidential.
I regularly meet with a ‘supervisor’ with whom I discuss cases confidentially, though I never share your name. This is a part of my professional development.
-
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients find clarity after a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support over time.
-
Yes! It works surprisingly well. In fact, all of my hundreds of hours of practice at college were done via video.
All you need is a quiet, private space and an internet connection. I will send you a link before our session to click on at the time.

No, depending on your needs, preferences and trauma profile, you will not be ‘made’ to move.
No dance steps or yoga poses are required! ……. but maybe a quick jiggle in your chair to settle your parasympathetic nervous system might be beneficial.
-
Art therapy is only one option we can do, and importantly, you don't need to be able to draw; just squiggles are fine.
I managed to do a whole AdvDip of Art Therapy without being able to draw, so take heart. (But gosh, it was fun to throw some paint around!).
-
Yes. No matter your religion, spiritual beliefs, or lack thereof, I am trained to work with your belief system. Everyone is welcome.
As for my own belief system, I am still working it out!
-
Good question. I still might at some stage ……….. but for now, I didn’t want it to take 4-7 years of studying before I could help people, I wanted to get to this work sooner.
I am really passionate about bringing in mind, body and soul into therapy particularly when processing traumas or life transitions.
I found this style of therapy personally very healing and wanted to help others with the modalities that transformed my life.
